Esmail has delivered a variety of sessions to GMYN’s NCS programme, both in person and virtually, on public speaking, overcoming barriers, and an introduction to BSL. The response from young people and partners is always fantastic, Esmail is a pleasure to work with!

During our Autumn NCS programme we had a visit from an MP and the NCS Trust CEO during Esmail’s session, and the programme was awarded the NCS Trust’s Programme Of The Season across the whole country, with young people citing Esmail’s session in their positive feedback about the programme. – Joe NCS Programme Manager

Esmail is such a fabulous presenter and a kind and caring role model for young people. His sessions are engaging and informative and he is always smiling and helpful. Would always recommend him.

I was extremely impressed with the way Esmail conducted his sessions with a Y12 cohort at Whalley Range High School. The pacing and content of these sessions was perfect; offering just the right amount of time and information for students to engage and learn from it. One thing that stood out was his ability to encourage participation from the class, often selecting individual students to engage with activities and offering support without spoon feeding them. I feel that the class gained a well formed understanding of basic BSL by then end of these sessions and I can highly recommend Esmail Patel to anyone looking to provide sessions on British Sign Language.

A group of our Year 12 students had the opportunity to take part in Esmail’s 6-week BSL course and had an extremely positive experience overall. Esmail led the sessions in a professional and engaging manner, which put the students at ease and encouraged them to build their confidence week by week. Esmail’s enthusiasm was infectious all throughout the course and we all found ourselves actively looking forward to Thursdays when he would come in for his weekly sessions. By the end of the course, it was a delight to see the students having short conversations with each other in sign, and I am certain this experience of meeting Esmail and learning a new skill will have a lasting impact on them. Needless to say, it was quite difficult to say goodbye upon completion of the course and many of the students wanted to continue for longer. I would welcome back Esmail any time and can’t speak highly of his course to recommend to other young people. Not only is BSL an invaluable skill to acquire, but the course also encourages students to show empathy and deepen their understanding of the challenges that the deaf community deals with.

All the best,
